Canaux de France

Exclusive FPP / Les Canalous : a new sensation on the French canals

What is the Stand Up Paddle?

The Stand Up Paddle or SUP is a new way of surfing where the surfer stands on a board longer and wider than a classic surfboard (approximately between 10 and 15 feet or ~3m - 4,5m) and moves thanks to a paddle.

It has 3 main advantages:
- More accessible to the learning than surfing
- It adapts to different aquatic environment (sea, lake or river)
- It has multiple functions (walking, discovering, security, training and surfing).

Testimony of Pauline F., cruise on the Vistula (in May, 2010):
"Accustomed French canals, we decided to leave for Poland for our first river holidays abroad!
The base is easily accessible since several low-cost carriers as Ryanair. Gdansk is a magnificent city
where you can stroll in its historic heart. The Vistula River, wild and virgin, is a natural oasis where a
protected ecosystem lives."
HEAD FOR Burgundy, departure from Tonnerre
A cruise in Burgundy rhymes with local produce and heritage. Tonnerre, 2h away from Paris only, is
the ideal starting point for a stay on the Canal de Bourgogne...

Testimony of Jim S., cruise on the Canal de Bourgogne (June 2010):
"Mythical cruise on the Burgundy Canal onboard a Tarpon!
Between medieval castles and grand crus (we're big fans of Chablis), we had a wonderful and
peaceful vacation for the pleasure of our eyes and taste buds. In addition, the Burgundians are very
HEAD FOR CANAL DU MIDI, departure from Colombiers
Canal du Midi or the «cruise of the sun ": from Colombiers, small port close to Béziers, wine capital
of Languedoc vibrating to the pace of the bullfighting and rugby...

Testimony of Chantal D., cruise on the Canal du Midi (in July, 2006):
"Our rental of a Pénichette along the Canal du Midi left me with an unforgettable souvenir. What
was special during this journey along the waterways was that time stops. Other good memories: our
bike rides and barbecue lunches on the banks of the Canal, in the shade of plane trees."
